The moon rise

[C#m] [G#] [B] [F#] [A] [A] [B] [G#]

[C#m]Now the hour has come [G#]at last

[B]The soft and fading [F#]light

[C#m]Has crossed the west [G#]horizon

[B]And has bidden us [F#]goodnight

[A]And what a lovely [B]night it is

To [G#]walk a moonlit [C#m]field

To [A]see the softer [B]shades

That are by [G#]starlight now revealed

[C#m]So why is it that [G#]now,

[B]When all is quiet and at [F#]rest

[C#m]When candles glow and all the [G#]world

Is [B]at its very [F#]best

The [A]ponies of [B]Equestria

[G#]Should lock themselves [C#m]away

To [A]shun the moon and wait [B]instead

For [G#]Sister's sunny day?

[G#]In umbra Luna est

[C#m]Am I so wrong to wish [B]that they

[E]Would see things like I [A]do?

[B]And am I so wrong to [E]think

That [A]they might love me [D]too?

Why [C#m]shouldn't they adore [B]me?

Is it [E]not within my [A]right?

I'll [B]not be [E]overshadowed!

Mine is not [A]the lesser [D]light!

I've [B]waited long enough [E]now

For them [C#]all to come [F#m]around

And though the Sun [G#]may plead and [C#m]threaten,

[D#]The Moon will stand her [D#]ground

[G#m] [F#] [A] [E]

[C#m] [D#]

It [G#m]comes to this at [E]last:

I will [C#m]no longer yield the [D#]sky

If they [C#m]cannot love

But [F#]one princess alone [B]

[G#m]See, the [E]Moon is [C#m]rising

[D#]She has [E]come to claim the [C#m]heavens for her [D#]own

And [G#m]all will know the [E]wonder

Of my [C#m]dark and jeweled [D#]sky

When all [E]the world is [C#m]wrapped

In an [D#]eternal [D#]lullaby

So [G#m]say goodnight at [E]this,

The final [C#m]setting of the [D#]sun

Tomorrow [E]dawns in [C#m]darkness

The [D#] [E]nighttime [D#]has [G#m]begun!

[G#m] [E] [G#m] [E] [G#m]
